Overview
Power generation facilities operate under extreme conditions — high temperatures, aggressive chemicals, constant mechanical stress and the ever-present risk of corrosion and erosion. Any unplanned shutdown can result in significant energy losses and costly repairs. Belzona's cold-work polymer solutions allow maintenance to be carried out in-situ, often without taking plant out of service.

Pump and turbine protection
Pumps and turbines in power stations are constantly exposed to erosion, cavitation and corrosion. Belzona ceramic-filled composites and smooth-bore coatings rebuild worn surfaces to original tolerances and provide outstanding resistance to further attack. Belzona 1341 (Supermetalglide) is widely used to coat pump internals, improving hydraulic efficiency and extending service intervals significantly.
Belzona repair composites have been proven to outlast conventional weld repairs in service — with documented cases of Belzona repairs remaining intact after 17 or more months of continuous operation in high-velocity, erosive conditions.

Heat exchanger and condenser protection
Tube sheets, water boxes and channel heads in power station heat exchangers and condensers are constantly subjected to corrosive attack from cooling water and chemical media. Belzona epoxy coatings provide a durable, chemically resistant barrier that isolates the substrate from corrosive media, preventing galvanic corrosion and extending service life.
Application is typically carried out during scheduled maintenance outages, with Belzona's fast-curing formulations minimising the time required to return equipment to service.
Chemical containment
Power stations use a wide range of aggressive chemicals — from caustic soda and acids used in water treatment to lubricating oils and fuel additives. Secondary containment areas, bunds and chemical storage tanks must be reliably protected against spills and leaks. Belzona 5811 (Immersion Grade) and other chemical-resistant coatings provide long-term protection against a wide range of aggressive substances, even under full immersion conditions.
Transformer and electrical equipment repair
Leaking joints and seals on transformers and other high-voltage electrical equipment present significant safety and operational risks. Belzona specialist sealants and repair composites allow leaks to be sealed quickly and safely, without the need for costly equipment replacement or extended shutdowns. These solutions are compatible with transformer oils and electrical insulating fluids.
