A 2-part hand-applied epoxy coating for long-term corrosion and chemical resistance under continuous immersion up to 160°C (320°F). No specialist tools required — safely applied in confined areas. Tested to NACE TM0174 with no rusting or blistering at 160°C over six months.

Belzona 1593 vessel lining

Product Description

A 2-part hand-applied epoxy coating designed to provide long-term corrosion and chemical resistance to equipment operating in continuous immersion at temperatures up to 160°C (320°F). This coating has a long overcoat window and its cold curing mechanism with full in-service cure reduces downtime and ensures rapid return of equipment to service.

This 100% solids coating is easy to mix and apply without the need for specialist tools, ensuring a simple and safe application in confined areas.

Note: Belzona 1593 is the hand-applied companion to Belzona 1523 (spray-applied). Both products share the same in-service post-cure mechanism and are frequently used together in complete vessel lining systems.

Key Benefits

  • Outstanding corrosion protection of high temperature equipment, suitable for continuous immersion in water and hydrocarbon mixtures up to 160°C (320°F)
  • Excellent chemical resistance against a wide range of chemicals including hydrocarbons and amines
  • 2-coat application without the need for flash blasting between coats
  • Very light colours allowing easy inspection in dark vessels
  • Application and cure at room temperature — no hot work involved
  • 100% solids material allowing it to be safely applied in confined areas
  • Reduces downtime due to its innovative post-cure mechanism activated at service temperatures — no separate post-cure needed
  • Withstands steam-out process up to 250°C (482°F) and rapid depressurisation
  • Excellent adhesion to metal surfaces and high retention of adhesion at elevated temperatures

Applications

  • High temperature epoxy coating for oil and gas production equipment such as separators, flare knock-out vessels and evaporators operating under immersion
  • Corrosion protection against a variety of chemicals in high temperature equipment including boiler vessels, condensers and heat exchangers

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a high temperature epoxy coating?
A high temperature epoxy coating is an industrial-grade, two-component lining engineered to provide corrosion protection under elevated temperature conditions, including continuous immersion. Unlike conventional epoxies, these systems are formulated to resist thermal cycling, permeation and chemical attack in demanding environments such as oil and gas production vessels, boiler systems, condensers and heat exchangers.
Can high temperature epoxy coatings be used under continuous hot immersion?
Yes. Belzona 1593 was tested in-house according to NACE TM0174 and passed six-month testing without exhibiting any rusting or blistering at 160°C (320°F), confirming its suitability for continuous hot immersion service.
What surface preparation is required for Belzona 1593?
High temperature epoxy linings should be applied to blast cleaned surfaces. After removing loose contamination and degreasing, blast clean to ISO 8501-1 Sa 2½ (SSPC SP 10 near white finish) with a minimum surface profile of 75 microns (3 mils).
What equipment is typically lined with high temperature epoxy solutions?
In oil and gas and petrochemical industries, high temperature epoxy linings are commonly applied to the internal surfaces of carbon steel equipment including pipework, vessels, tanks and pumps to protect against corrosive media and extend service life.
Is Belzona 1593 available in a spray-applied version?
Yes. Belzona 1523 is the spray-applied version, designed for large surface areas. It uses a lower viscosity formulation compatible with standard heated airless spray equipment. Both products share the same in-service post-cure mechanism and are often used together — 1523 for large areas, 1593 for complex geometry, nozzles and areas inaccessible to spray.
